About this video

Imke comes from an esteemed Dutch equestrian family where her mother rode for Holland and her father introduced the Freestyle into dressage. She says she was 'born in the stable' and riding and teaching are her life. Imke produced Lancet, then lost the ride and she still misses him! Sunrise, her Beijing team silver horse, is a 'real girl' and different every time she's ridden but gives 300% in the ring. Imke also talks about the Global Dressage Forum which her family runs. She tells Fiona Price about her mistake in the GP the day before and, later, about not being able to hear the music in the Kur. Despite this, she finished 4th on both days!

caroline 13 Aug 2009 Having watched all the fab Hickstead videos I must say, revisiting this one that in the warm up Sunrise seem to be exuding an aura of Joie De Vie which is almost palpable...the horse seems very perky - lovely to see. I hate to see dressage which has a kind of "dancing bear" feel to it if you know what I mean....we do have to concentrate when we ride and we all have our ambiions but all too often the fun seems to be lost to the competition pressure...Sunrise in the warmup is a perfect example of a horse showing both. What an amazing animal the horse is!
Fiona Price 9 Aug 2009 Thanks for your kind comments. I have been expecting Laura's blog, Kate, but she will be focused on the Europeans which is just two weeks away! All is fine with her to my knowledge.
KateP 9 Aug 2009 I love this website, I especially love the dressage, my 3 year old daughter is even watching the videos with me, not that she understands she just adores horses. I have really enjoyed all these Hickstead vids. I have just ordered that book! PS. Fiona, Is Laura ok, she hasn't posted any blogs for a while? Hope she is ok, am sure she is just busy. Thanks Kate
katjaboe 7 Aug 2009 Thank you for yet another wonderful video! The Bartels' family are true examples of people who are open minded and are sincerely interested in continuously improving themselves and setting the stage for others' improvement. They recently wrote a wonderful book explaining their training philosophy. I really recommend it as it gives a good insight in the multitude of aspects that they adress in order to be succesful (Ride Horses with Awareness and Feel by Tineke & Joep Bartels, Trafalgar Square Books)
Fiona Price 7 Aug 2009 Caroline, thanks for your lovely comments. Yes we made a video of Hans Peter and the fab' Escapado. It will be posted next week. Worth waiting for! We also did Jane Gregory. We can't post all at once as non-dressage geeks will get a bit fed up! We are going to the Europeans too, so more very soon!!!
