About this video
Julie Tew is an inspiration! She knew she was born to event and was successful at junior and young rider levels. Her talent was recognised when she was asked to go to the Atlanta Olympics 'test event' as a guinea pig to help gather data about competing in extreme heat. Julie shares the vital information she learned about cooling horse and rider. On her return, disaster struck and she lost the use of both her legs. Julie explains how she defied doctors, not only to ride again but to compete at top level. The day before we met her, Julie had lost two horses. She talks about this and shares her philosophy on training. Interviewed by Fiona Price.

Cluny 28 Nov 2009 What a truly inspirational sportswoman, her love for her horses truly shines through. Also so great to hear her talking about taking time out to spend with her horses and forging that bond with them. Thank you Horse Hero.
keyses 30 Aug 2009 Julie is truly inspirational with a wonderful attitude, thank you for sharing this.
sophia 16 Aug 2009 Wonderful thank you horsehero and Julie for sharing her stories and thoughts... I suffer from a 'mental illness' and although I'm only 20 I lost my nerve to ride. I went from a confident, competitive rider, to needing my coach to lead me around. Although it's not a physical problem like Julie it is just as frustrating! I'm on the road to recovery or at least management and hoping to be competeing again soon, very inspirational.
manny 20 Jun 2009 What a wonderful person, and such a inspiration, it makes me feel inadaquate to think I let a couple of broken ribs set me back for so long!!! Well done a great interview!!
