• Toss the clean straw into the banks.
• Work right through the banks to the floor checking for and removing droppings as you go.
• Remove any wet straw and check under the water drinker for further damp patches.

• When all the clean straw is moved to the banks, brush the floor to remove any remaining muck and wet patches.
• Put the bed back down adding clean straw as necessary.
• Create good banks by working the straw from the bottom, tossing it against the wall. Banks will help to provide support when the horse rolls and prevent him injuring himself.
• Make sure the depth of the straw is sufficient – the fork shouldn’t hit the floor when you poke it into the bed.
• Clean the wall around the water drinker and feed manger to ensure maximum hygiene and reduce the risk of infection.
• Test the water drinker to make sure it is working correctly.
• If using buckets, clean them out in the morning and top up with fresh water throughout the day.
