About this video

Sue Cox is an FEI 3* rider and endurance GB squad member. The Golden Horseshoe Ride is different to more usual 'race rides' of endurance but it's Sue's favourite event and she has competed in it every year since '94. Sue provides a fascinating insight into the world of endurance. She explains what makes a top rider, how she gets through the endurance 'brick wall', the importance of dressage in training at home and how long it takes to produce a horse to international level. Fiona Price asks Sue about endurance's image as an 'older woman's sport' and the challenges of pitting yourself against Exmoor's demanding terrain and unpredictable climate.

C_Robinson 5 Jun 2009 Can I also point out the Young Riders in Endurance would certainly disagree with the 'older womens sport'. The Under 21 squad have just as strong an addiction! Go Young Riders!
Fiona Price 25 May 2009 I realise that after attending the Horseshoe but my comment addressed the commonly held perception of the sport, in the UK at least and was a bit tongue in cheek!
TinkerBell 25 May 2009 I do not think the Sheikh's of UAE will agree that endurance is 'older woman's sport' :). It takes an incredibly fit riders and horses to do this. Bravo all!
Karen Jones 25 May 2009 I think this video is very interesting and loved watching it! Thank you.
KatieRoo 25 May 2009 The video turned out great! I was there and held the boom as I won the pony club competition to accompany Horse Hero to the shoot. I learnt lots from this video and Sue gives some really interesting advice, she's a really lovely and polite person to meet as well!
