  • Off to watch our runner at Cheltenham!

Thursday was an early start and I was on Showtime (Arnie) at 7.30am followed by Legamento (Lenny) straight after. This was because Dad had a runner at the Cheltenham Festival and my fiancé Nathan and I were asked to go and represent him. So even though it was an early morning it was going to be a lovely afternoon.

Deep Purple didn't win but placed fourth in a very hot Grade 1 race and, as always, I am just glad when they come home safe and sound. Ronnie, as he is known by all the girls at the yard, is a bit of a favourite and my claim to fame is that I took him over his first trotting poles and small fences! Mind you, deep down I know my small contribution to his training is not really what got him to where he is now, it’s the great support network at the Evan Williams racing yard - they do a fantastic job!! We had a few drinks in the owners and trainers bar and I even saw fellow blogger Jackie Siu. We left just before the start of the last race and Nathan treated me to sushi in a new bar that’s opened in Oxford. It was a wonderful afternoon and a nice little break.
