Polo has always been part of my life and I played my first game when I was about seven - but then we are a polo family through and through! My mother Claire still holds the women’s high goal handicap record and I’ve been lucky to play regularly in the England team alongside my brother Luke. I can't remember my first time on horseback - I must have been about three or four. I did all the usual pony club stuff until I was about 14 and I still do plenty of hunting.

I couldn’t wait to play polo professionally after graduating in Spanish and Linguistics from Bristol University, and 2003 was a momentous year. I was a member of Hildon Sport who won the Gold Cup and I captained a Young England side to a clean sweep in a two match series down in Australia. Eight weeks later, I made my full England debut against South Africa (14-9 win), before going on to represent England in the Cartier International for the first time against Chile in 2004. In 2005 I played for Oaklands Park and the highlight was my team’s qualification for the Argentine Open, making me and Luke the first Englishmen to play in the Argentine Open since Julian Hipwood in the 70s.

Then in 2006 I had one of my best high goal seasons reaching the quarter finals of both the Queen’s Cup and Gold Cup, as well as helping England to victory over New Zealand in the Cartier International – my first Cartier win! I also took on the captaincy in Luke’s absence for the Evolution Test match against Argentina though sadly, we were defeated.

In early 2009 I was part of the England team that lifted the Westchester Cup against the USA in Florida and later that year in June we won the Queen’s Cup at Guard’s Polo Club in front of Her Majesty the Queen. That was a 'wow' moment!

In 2010 I played for England in the Cartier International against New Zealand and we won! In June 2010 at Windsor Park I won the Royal Windsor Cup along with my mother, Claire Tomlinson, so it was a pretty memorable occasion. I am still an England regular and in early 2011 played against World Champions, Argentina in Buenos Aires which was a great experience. Later in 2011 I am looking forward to playing the Cartier International in July against Brazil.
