I am astonished after reading Vittoria Panazon's recent blog from Hong Kong, to hear about the lack of thought from those involved in Olympics travel logistics. Her horse, Rock Model, arrived unecessarily exhausted because he wasn't given an expected break between the lorry journey to the airport and boarding the plane, so he wasn't allowed to move for 24 hours! He was so tired he didn't have the energy to eat a carrot on arrival and had to be put on a drip! When you think of the years of preparation it takes to get a horse to that level and the cost of getting teams across the world to compete, it seems stupid that such a detail (one which costs nothing) can be missed and potentially jepardise someone's chances.
