Please share your experiences with of XC boots (for competition). My well loved boots have 'expired' so I am on the hunt for new ones.

I compete my horse at unaffilated horse trials and some intro / pre novices on a ticket. I use the 'air cooled' eventing boots for the XC. They are not very expensive and I really like them, think they are a good boot for those just getting started out. Not sure how ideal they would be for a higher level of competition though.

I use Stretch and Flex boots and they have never come off and I've been using them for two years now in SJ and XC.

I use the eskadron cross country boots which I like but I find my horse sweats underneath them.
Could you recommend so boots which will reduce or stop the sweating?

I have a set of NEW cross country boots which are non heating, but you need to be careful fitting them , because they have no stretch in them, they will protect from interference injury as they are re-enforced with hard plastic up the back of the cannon bone in front. See also BOOTS BOOTS etc in Tack and Equipment

I am also looking for a good cross country boot. I bought a pair of Dover's galloping boots, and today I rode through the water and they slipped right off! I need something that will be durable and not slip. But I also don't have the cash to get anything too fancy. Can anyone recommend a good boot for a decent price?

Try Dalmar. They are expensive but worth it!They have a hard protective layer at the front and the back so they protect the cannon bone and the tendons.you can get both front and back boots, and also overreach boots.the overreach boots have a hard protective layer also that protects the bulb of the heel. Hope this helps!

I use the Mark Todd leather eventing boots. They are reinforced with graphite to protect the cannon from any hard knocks and they have tendon support. They also seem to stay put very well through the water jumps etc. They are a bit of a chore to clean after each event though.
