This is a great sight and has all the information that novice riders need. I've ridden all my life off an on and due to this only get so far in learning all about horse care and management. All this site needs now is to do their own horse care exams!! But not having your own horse really impedes on the learning experience. It also doesn't help with confidence - you get so far and then back to square one with a new horse. Is anyone else in the same predicament- and how do you address all of this? I have to say this site will become a bible to me.

Thanks for your kind remarks. Funnily enough, we have built in the facility to do a short self-test on the 'how to' videos and one of our next jobs is to create these. So not exactly an exam but hopefully a useful way to check you have absorbed the information. Re getting more experience on the horse care side, sounds like your best bet is to try to find a horse to share or at least to exercise, then you have keep your hand in on the ground as well? Look for ads on noticeboards in local tack and feed shops and ask around!

Just caught up with this chat. Lara, you would be amazed at how many horse owners find having to exercise their horse day-in-day-out is a big commitment that they don't always relish. If you ride well and can contribute towards some of the horse's upkeep you could easily find a horse to share. OK the downside is that you would have to fit your riding around the owner's schedule but you could find it a very workable arrangement. If you can't afford much money then you could maybe contribute by mucking out and helping with other chores
