About this video

GB team members Francesca Sternberg and Doug Allen demonstrate advanced reining patterns prior to the Euro Champs' '09 with their top horses Lexus and Jack. Francesca shows 'large fast, slow small circles' to perfection while Doug shows off his stallion Jack's sliding stops. Both demonstrate spins and they explain how each move is judged. (Doug wins team bronze a few weeks later.) Before the ridden work, however, they talk to Fiona Price about this little known, big money sport in which GB does surprisingly well. We find out about the Quarter Horse and discover how a quintessentially English girl got hitched to an all American guy!

campbh 8 Nov 2009 Great video! After owning pleasure type Quarter Horses for a couple of years, I sat on a reining horse for the first time yesterday, awesome and after just one session I'm beginning to realise that performing reining manoeuvres at any form of speed and with any form of style may quite possibly be the most challenging thing ever!
Carmel4ie 31 Oct 2009 That looks like real fun! Makes me want to have a go!!
christina 31 Oct 2009 It looks so much fun! I was inspired by the first video with Francesca & Doug & am getting western riding lessons for Xmas & can't wait.
Silver Snaffles 31 Oct 2009 Just fab. If only I was younger I would certainly be interested in a quarter horse. They look brilliant.
luckypenny-horselvr 31 Oct 2009 Being American, I know the Quarter Horse very well, and have one of my own. I compete in both western reining and dressage with the same horse. They are definately the most versatile, trusting, and yes, sometimes the most easy going breed of horse! Thanks horse hero for this amazing insight into the world of reining!
