Filming. Following a recent filming frenzy, we have a stash of great videos that will be coming onto the site very soon, ranging from Tai Chi to reining. We are already planning our next round of filming which includes a visit to show jumper Shane Breen who is based at the Hickstead showground, also GB dressage rider Jane Gregory who will be working with her stars of the future and Chinese eventer Alex Hua Tian (first to represent his country at an Olympics), amongst others.

Site improvements. You'll be pleased to know we have radically improved the search function throughout the site. Try it and see! We have also added the option to embed our free monthly highlights videos so you can share them with users on other websites. Click on the link under the video.

Stop press! Team GB has won team bronze at the FEI European Reining Championships in Kreuth! Doug Allen, featured in our latest reining video (see below), is a member of the team. Congratulations Doug!

Early training for reining horses

Early training for reining horsesWhether or not reining is your sport, this is a must! GB team rider Doug Allen (with team mate Francesca Sternberg) provides a fascinating insight into reining. Doug talks about why they start horses so young, the reasons for the jog and lope gaits and shows how they work two and three year-olds to develop the balance and suppleness required for reining 'patterns'. "The idea is to make it easy for the horse to do the right thing", he says!
