Wet. wet, wet! The weather may have dampened the chances of getting out competing, for most of us, this weekend but it hasn't dampened the spirits of Horse Hero bloggers or video diarists. There's plenty anew to keep you amused if you find yourself grounded!
Veterinary video series kicks off!
Finally, after a few technical hitches, the first of our veterinary pieces are now on the site. Investigating Lameness Part 1 & Part 2, with world authority, Dr Svend Kold from Willesley Equine Clinic in Gloucesterhire, provide a great insight into the process of diagnosing lameness, especially in competition horses where the signs can be quite subtle. We also find out that lameness is complex and often in more than just one leg! These are a must for all horse owners.
New video diaries
Two more episodes, just uploaded, in the continuing Horse Hero 'Squad Training' which are not only funny but useful for anyone having to do any form of presentation. These are filmed at the home of Managing Director (who thought she might soften the feedback by cooking the team supper!) with Laura Bechtolsheimer, Harry Meade and Louisa Brassey. Our heroic team are enlightened on presentation skills and these pieces give a fascinating insight in the making of Horse Hero videos.
Biogs
Our fascinating biog pages had a big boost this week as we have added five new ones. Top show-jumper Helen Tredwell has given us some terrific photos of her talented mare Opportunity B. Pony team rider Olivia Kuropatwa is only fifteen but already making her mark on the dressage scene and preparing to move up to Juniors next year. Gemma Green has won at the National Dressage Championships four times and has competed for Great Britain since she was 15. Sophie Wells is a para-dressage rider who has been selected as reserve for the Paralympics in Hong Kong and Karen Morris is the reigning Scurry Driving Points Champion with her pair of scurry ponies Suited and Booted.
Blogs galore!
We have some intriguing blogs for you this week, that's for sure! Para' team rider, Simon Laurens talks about an early morning visit from the drug-tester. Laura Bechtolsheimer relates a tale of men, electrodes and some complex analysis. Plus she is impressed at her ability to negotiate the tube in London on the way to a Bon Jovi concert! Lucy Katan gets excited about working at the Beijing Olympics and Sarah Fisher introduces us to an enormous 19hh Shire, Claude. Finally, in wet-yourself type hilarity, video diarist, Wayne Garrick, has started a blog and we challenge you to be able to read it without laughing out loud, again and again!!
