About this video

Mary Wanless works with 4* event rider Louise Skelton, on how to 'ride with her mind'. Using metaphors such as 'roll the ball back', 'braids to buttons' and 'hung in a harness', Mary helps Louise become aware of her comfortable but not necessarily most effective position, and work towards being in the best place bio-mechanically to improve the horse's way of going. Louise experiences a 'neutral spine' position where she is strongest abdominally and most able to match the force the horse exerts beneath her. The video is jam-packed full of ideas to become more body aware and improve your riding. But beware, best to work on this in bite-size chunks!

OldRenee 26 Mar 2010 THANK YOU MARY! Just by concentrating on carrying weight in my upper thighs, my rising trot became so much better..... I could really control my body and keep myself in balance, and as a result, my mare offered a swinging back and lovely rhythm. Thank you again, please could we have more videos?

ultimate 13 Mar 2010 Wow! What an improvement in the horse and rider. I would love to see more videos of Mary Wanless in the future and I would like to know if there are any professional videos available. After viewing this video I ordered 2 of her books but I find the video format easier to digest. Both of my medium level dressage horses have improved by incorporating some of Mary's techniques but I'm sure what I've changed is only the tip of the iceburg. Does Mary clinic in the states?
Pegasus77 8 Jan 2010 When I bought "Ride with your Mind" in 1990(!) my family thought I had finally cracked, it was the most incredible help to me as a novice rider. Seeing this video now through more mature and experienced eyes I still am absolutely fascinated with Mary's ideas. Very, very useful. Thank you.
Alirules 14 Dec 2009 I also agree, that to watch other riders is extremely useful. It helps get the RWYM details firmly established in your own mind. It is also good to be able to re-visit the video to "check" ones own progress or confirm an exercise. An excellent video. I have Mary Wanless's books and videos from ages ago- all excellent!
