About this video

Alex was the first rider to compete for China at an Olympic Games on home ground, in 2009. He talks to Fiona Price about his formative years growing up in Beijing and then Hong Kong, where he had a chance meeting with Lucinda and Clayton Fredricks, who trained him when he moved to the UK. Riding his mother's ex-racehorse Monkey, Alex got to 3* in 3 years. He then had a lucky break securing a vast sponsorship deal that sent him round the world in search of top horses, and later set a record qualifying four of them for the Olympics! Though Beijing didn't go according to plan, Alex is one of the rising stars of the eventing scene!

christina 3 Dec 2009 Fab video, I didn't realise he had 4 horses qualified for Beijing! Truly living the dream.
hhhorse 2 Dec 2009 An inspiring interview. I understand the point Alex makes regarding having a mini-break from your riding and coming back fresh/avoiding getting 'stale'. Definitely a rising star ....and a charming one!
