Biography
I am the youngest of 4 brothers – my eldest brother Heath also rides for Australia. I first came to the UK in 1984 to be a working pupil for Richard Meade. I went back to Australia in 1985 and worked with my brother Simon on his sheep farm. Following that I went to work for Heath and his wife at the New South Wales Equestrian Centre and in 1988 I was reserve for the Seoul Olympic Team with Southland of Coolalee.
In 1989 I moved back to the UK to be based full time as I wanted to compete at the top of the sport and felt that the UK was the best place to be. In 1992, after a good performance at Badminton, I was selected to ride at the Barcelona Olympics with Kibah Tic Toc and we had a brilliant time there, winning individual and team gold medals.
In 2000 I went to the Sydney Olympics with Kibah Sandstone (half brother to Kibah Tic Toc) and again, won team gold. This made history as it was the third consecutive Olympics where the same nation had won gold in eventing.
My wife, Marie and I, have recently bought Little Llandeilo Farm near Abergavenny and are competing a team of horses with the 2012 London Olympics as the ultimate goal.
