Had show-jumping training at 7am this morning with my trainer, Martin Arnott. Horses all jumped quite well – when I told him about Filius being good in the rubber snaffle he did the whole ‘told you so’ thing!! Filius jumped amazingly this morning so fingers crossed he can reproduce it at Blair next week. Luna lived up to her name – Lunatic by breaking the martingale as she threw her head up so high on the approach to a fence, she is talented by very, very opinionated! She’s actually called Luna as she was born when there was a full moon!
Took Fortnight and Filius to the gallops this afternoon, about two minutes after I got on Filius it peed it down – good and proper rain! I was soaked through to my pants within seconds, not so good! The gallops started to resemble a river, as the rain poured down I couldn’t see any of the surface. Filius is definitely feeling fit as he came out snorting and spooking! Then there was thunder and lightening and he galloped off with me! Fortnight is such a gentleman, he just canters up the gallops doesn’t pull and then walks back down, unlike Filius who tries to show off his extended trot down the hill – not ideal!! Had an unfortunate incident when we got back, my Dad went to move the lorry but had forgotten to put the steps up (usually there is a beeper that goes off in the cab if they’re down but it’s broken!) so the lorry step are no more!! Luckily I’m not taking too many horses to Thirlestane so can borrow a friend’s lorry.
