Last week seems to have flown by, I’ve been so busy. As I am going to the World Cup final, I have to make training a mix of my old Freestyle (which I will still do for Bordeaux, as it is much more polished) and my new Freestyle because there’s only 7 weeks until my first competition of this year. Training the old freestyle seems really tame now!
I also spent a lot of time in schools this week doing my Champions in Schools visits at Coltness, Taylor and St Margaret’s high schools. It was my first visit to all three, so I was mainly just introducing the pupils to vaulting and having a bit of fun (probably too much in my case)!
Thursday evening was exciting as it was a trip to see our "catsuit lady" with our designs all drawn for this year’s outfits. Luckily for her she didn’t find them too complicated and Hannah and I were able to spend some time raking about in her bags of material to find the perfect pieces. Fingers crossed she can make them in time; otherwise I’ll have to resort to mum’s master plan… which would be hilarious for everyone watching!
We also had a flat dinner, cooked by Suz, just to spend some time catching up. Between us we are hardly every all in the flat together. Both Hannah and Suz had found out they had done amazingly in their pre-Christmas uni exams and I found out I passed my mock final (that I’d come up on the sleeper from Olympia for), so we decided to head on out for a bit of dancing. It was a brilliant, spur of the moment night.
This weekend I was training and preparing for Bordeaux. Hannah and I have to fly out on Friday due to uni, but Dad’s leaving with Henry and the lorry on Wednesday. The juniors had training on Sunday and were making a brilliant job of their Freestyle, while I was doing a brilliant job of completely confusing them trying to teach them the new rules. They’ll learn… eventually!
Today was back to uni for me to wait out the week until Friday. I’m really looking forward to Bordeaux though it is pretty far for Dad to drive to, but I’ll be helping on the way home. It’s weird competing this time of year but hopefully it will be a fun and successful competition, with a good crowd and plenty of promotion for vaulting.
