About this video

Fiona Price describes her day in Portugal filming with classical rider and trainer Francisco de Braganca and with his Lusitano stallions. Francsico explains why work in hand is vital and the basis of dressage. He says, "the horse understands the man and has time to build strength and understand the aids before he is ridden". Fiona discovers the source of Franscisco's inspiration and takes a trip round his yard where she learns about the unusual feeding regime. We peek inside the tack room and Franscisco explains why he sometimes uses a pelham instead of a double bridle. The setting is typically Mediterranean. Fiona offers a taste of the fabulous videos to come!

kiwi2003 1 Oct 2010 The Black horse is Unico, what do you mean by not right? He is a highly trained sensitive horse that does high school movements, Francisco is known worldwide working alond side Sylvia Loch. I think they know what they are doing. This family have been breeding and training horses for many years. It's not helpful to post uninformed comments such as 'this horse seems nervous' or 'not right' when you don't know the horse.
Lizzie And Ellie 5 Aug 2010 Lovely video but I wasnt impressed with the black horse - he didn't seem completely right?
Fiona Price 3 Jul 2010 He wasn't so much nervous and extremely sharp with a lot of energy.
moveon 3 Jul 2010 The black horse ridden seemed very nervous?
