  • One amazing foal scored a 10!

My leg is better so I am relieved to be back riding again, a good job because Aaron is on holiday for a week. I want to congratulate Aaron on his success with my five year old Rocco though! Whilst my leg was bad he rode and competed him and they scored 8.3 and were third to Kyra Kyrkland, who has a spectacular horse that won in Hagen a few weeks back, so I am really very pleased.

It’s really hot weather here, it has been over 40C so everyone is riding very early in the mornings to also mention the horse flies, which are really annoying. Last Friday evening we had a drinks party at the local restaurant to celebrate my birthday, it was a nice evening. I've also paid a visit home and was thrilled to see how good my indoor school is starting to look, it’s exciting because Markus will begin to run clinics once a month starting at the end of August.

On Saturday we had a foal show at the Klatte yard. There were over 80 foals, mainly bred for dressage, and they are shown in hand in walk and trot and score marks for both gaits, which is then calculated to make the final score. There were some gorgeous foals and from this show they can qualify for the German Championships. Many of the foals did qualify, and a foal by Sir Donnerhall scored a ten - he was amazing, I am trying to decide whether to buy one but it is difficult because there is so much choice. There is another foal show on Friday so you never know. Also this weekend Markus is competing his six year old in class M level, so hopefully it will not be too hot.

I am very happy because it looks as if Domino is now better again! Mr Bucholz, a German horse physio/chiropractor, was here last week and found Domino’s hip was out of line. After he was treated he had to have a few lighter days and we are now back working towards full fitness.

I am really enjoying riding Rocco at the moment too. He’s at the wonderful age where you can start to ask for more and he is really getting settled into his work, so hopefully it's not too long before I begin competing him!
