Here's your chance to glimpse a British Horse Society (BHS) Stage Three exam! Carol Broad (chief examiner and BHS Fellow) and Jude Murphy (BHSI) are institutions at Huntley School of Equitation. They have worked together for 17 years and Carole has been at Huntley for 30 years! Students are assessed as they work on the flat, show jump, ride cross country, lunge and load. Carol offers feedback and we find out what the 'guinea pigs' think about their performance in this mock exam too! Fiona Price talks to Carole and Jude about their backgrounds, multi-tasking horses, typical candidates and why they love being examiners.

phbonita 8 Oct 2011 Excellent video - I have trained with Carol and she is fantastic - so inspirational and confidence giving! A far cry from the instructors I had when I first learnt to ride who used to spend the entire lesson shouting and critisizing rather than encouraging and helping you get it right! I agree with the other suggestions - please can we have an insight similar to this one on Stage 4 - even the BHS don't seem to have a DVD in their collection for anything beyond Stage 3!

Fiona Price 16 Jan 2011 The video would have been too long to include all you would have like to see. We have included as much of the most pertinent content that would could to give people a taste of the exam.

ewhite723 16 Jan 2011 Nice idea! I wish it would have been longer. I would have liked to see the whole riding part of the exam. It would give more of an insight as to what type of rider is qualified for Stage III. Also to hear the examiners comments regarding how each person was riding as the exam was going on would have been really nice.

Fiona Price 7 Oct 2009 Congratulations! Carole had said she knew you could all show-jump but the nerves of being filmed were a bit much! Hopefullly the experience of filming helped you to manage you nerves when you did it for real!
