Hi all.
I think I may be having a minor confidence crisis rather than anything else, but would like to know if anyone has advice or hopeful stories of long waits to get into a job they love.

I'm 27 now, and have to say I havne't had the easiest of lives. Not that I'm complaining, but it has put me on a back foot. The only job I ever wanted to do was work with horses. I've had my own pony since I was 11. I have done free grooming, studied at college to be a yard manager, worked my guts out doing anything to keep my pony and worked free as a groom for the last five years just to keep up experience and the fact I love them so much. I've broken my back which has led to me having to give up riding for almost a year until some intensive physio has finally resolved as much of it as poss and hope to be back to jumping by end of winter. The only thing holding me back is that I can't drive because I've never been able to afford to. This has not deterred me. What has though id the many interviews I've gone to and been told more than anything I'm over qualified despite the fact that I didn't do my training through the bhs because I didn't really want to be a riding instructor. I'm a very good show groom, an adequate rider, excellent at stable managemnet and could run my own yard had I the money. So why am I still struggling?

I do apologise for length of thread and if it comes accross as whining but I really could do with some advice. Thanks.

Hi, i am in Australia so it maybe differant over in England but my advise would be to get a part time job working at a local shop or something to earn abit of money and then save 10% of that for rainy days and put a proportion into an account to save up for a cheap car. The rest you can spend on your horse. Being a part time job you will have time to ride your horse and groom at compeitions for riders. Sometimes unfortunetly you have to do a job you really dont want to in order to be able to offered the things you love. I noticed when looking at the application forms for alot of jobs is the fact that you have to drive. So if you save up and buy a car then you might be more successful. Remember your time is worth something, just dont go around offering free services although it is nice to do that with the tought you are helping someone you alos have to pay the bills and make a living aswell. I hope this is what you were looking for. Chin up everyone has days like this.
