Suzie Peacock helps Amy to be better balanced in the saddle: Part 2

About this video

Following on from Part 1, Amy moves into sitting trot on the very bouncy Vaz. Suzie says that when Amy's hips move back and fore in the saddle, they don't follow the motion of the horse. Her hips need to be like "oars in a kayak". Suzie says, "this will change everything" and the more animated Vaz's movement, the more animated Amy's hips need to be. The difference in Vaz's movement is noticeable! Moving into canter, Suzie tells Amy to imagine the seat of her saddle is a clock, so she can correctly position her seat bones and allow her legs to hang. Suzie also explains when tension in Amy's body is a hindrance to Vaz and when it's useful!

TracyM 3 Jul 2011 This is a tremendously helpful video! Thank you Susie and Fiona! I love these kinds of subtle details of how we can affect our horses. It is such a better way of riding and sometimes difficult to find instructors that teach this way!
Marascalco 11 Jun 2011 I agree! It would be great to talk about. In my experience, the motion of the hips differs in all the gaits and I have learned the difference a "true free" seat makes in them. I CANT WAIT for your word to reach FAR and WIDE! The horse community needs it! And the horses need it even more! I am interested in working with you!! I train young horses at a breeding farm in Georgia (High Valley Hanoverians) the owner and I just love your work! Thanks again!
susie 9 Jun 2011 I want to cover more about how the rider moves while they follow the walk, trot and canter! We can all do it with the right information, supportive body symmetry exercises and desire! I've been working with one of my busness partners,Kendel Pink about the exercises! Maybe next year we can have a Pink Peacock horsehero session! THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!
Marascalco 9 Jun 2011 THANK YOU FOR TEACHING the motion the horse takes in the trot!!! Why is it most people dont think of this!! LOL I am so happy for the horses that more people can learn from you! A true seat makes happy horses! :)
Flossie 7 Jun 2011 So informative, I wish I could get regular lessons like this. Not owning a horse and riding lots of different ones does make it slightly more difficult, as only having one hour you just get the horse going nicely and that's it for another week. That said variety of characters is also nice and at times quite challenging.Nobody has ever explained sitting trot this way, I shall look forward to trying it out.
