Introduction to Horse Hero
Horse Hero is a video website which shows you how top equestrian professionals look after their horses at home and during competition. Our team films at leading yards and venues, often with high profile competitors, so we get a rare glimpse into their lives and find out what they are really like away from the limelight. We also meet many of our ‘horse heroes’ and do some fascinating yard tours. High quality video production offers a great viewing experience which combines education with entertainment.
Horse Hero videos are presented by a team of young, up and coming riders including Laura Bechtolsheimer, Harry Meade and Louisa Brassey alongside Managing Director, Fiona Price. New videos are added regularly and you can rate them to keep us on our toes!
The site uses state-of-the-art technology so you can take the learning right into the stable by downloading videos onto your laptop, mobile or handheld device. Key points are attached to most videos and some also have self-tests. Plus, you can show us how you do it by submitting your own ‘how to’ videos.
And there’s more! Horse Hero has a mass of biographies of top riders and leading figures in the sector, along with photos of them and their horses and their words of wisdom. Some also have blogs (web diaries) which allow you to keep up with what they’re doing and post your own comments. A few also have video diaries. We have our own Horse Hero blog and video diary to give you the inside track on what we get up to and offer you a behind the scenes look at the making of Horse Hero! There are also discussion forums so you can post questions on a range of interesting horsey topics.
Cost
In case you are wondering how we make money, some revenue comes from advertising. However, in order to provide the quality and quantity of unique footage we offer there is a small charge to users for many of our videos. But there’s lots that’s free too - all non-video content and video diaries, for example. Horse Hero video trailers are also free. If you decide to buy the full video, you can do this in one of two ways. Either ‘pay as you go’ which means you put a sum of money (as little as £5.00) into a ‘wallet’ on our web site and use this to buy videos which cost between 50p and £2.50. Or you can take out an annual subscription which gives you complete access to all Horse Hero content. This costs £35 per year. We think the subscription is a no-brainer because, at launch, there will be over 50 videos on the site (which offer approximately 10 hours of viewing) and this will grow each month, representing considerable savings to subscribers and great value for money. But the choice is entirely yours. The web wallet is certainly a good way to test us out!
