About this video

What a heady mix of testosterone at the Hartpury Stallion Parade 2010! Dressage and jumping stallions are exhibited in hand, under saddle and over fences. In the first of two videos, the jumping stallions strut their stuff! Fiona Price meets Shirley Light & Unbelievable Darco and finds out how jumping stallions have changed over the last 40 years. Jan Rogers talks about the role of the British Equestrian Federation in breeding, and Ken Rehill shows the multi-talented eventing, jumping and dressage stallion Grafenstolz. Fiona also meets the show jumping legend and Athens Olympic gold medallist, 21 year old Baloubet De Rouet!

TinkerBell 8 Apr 2010 What a pleasure to see Baloubet in such a great form! He has the same unmistakenable attitude, look and "porte de sa tete". He seems to be really calm though compare to his competing days, breeding must be doing him lots of good. Thank you very much Fiona!
Bri 8 Apr 2010 Wow, beautiful, amazing. Who is the lucky female jockey jumping the stallions and sat on Baloubet De Rouet?
Fiona Price 8 Apr 2010 We have also published a behind-the-scenes account (which includes an entertaining video) of the trials and tribulations of our filming on the day of the Show. You'll find it in the Editorial section of the site. It's a Guest Feature. Enjoy!!
christina 8 Apr 2010 Great stuff, looking forward to the dressage video too.
woodlander 8 Apr 2010 So glad you enjoyed this. It was wonderful to have Horse Hero filming at the event and there was great interest in the jumpers. The point about stallion grading was one well made. We need International Standards for our stallions so that our breeding progresses. Performance in sport is as important as the Grading itself. Obviously you want to know that the stallion has been assessed and vetted. The BHHS stallion grading is a global standard, the WBS - UK use only foreign judges fom Holland and Germany for Stallion Grading and the new Premium status indicates the "International" types. The British members of the World Breeding Federation are the studbooks geared for performance in their stallions and, for instance, stallions licensed in the UK by the WBS are also licensed in Germany. So we are catching up!
