Vittoria Panizzon's Blog

Vittoria has just sent a text from Aachen with a photo of Bug about to get on the lorry to travel to the airport (see below). The Italian team horses and riders are flying from Amsterdam today. Vittoria says that there is a typhoon on the Hong Kong weather forecast! Let's hope the weather forecasters were wrong this time!

Almost ready to go!

Ears pricked! Eager to get going!!

The horseboxes are ready and waiting to take their Equine VIP passengers to the airport Bug's hand luggage for the flight!

Update from Vittoria...

God knows what people thought of us in the airport... the team clothing did make us feel more united, however embarrassing and it certainly made us stand out! Passers by must have wondered what sport we were: mixed sex, very spread age range, varied conformations with smokers and drinkers involved!

The last two days in quarantine have involved complicated packing logistics. Finally, a touch of sunbathing and the realisation we were actually going to have to wear the embarrassing silver and transparent white team clothes! These days were made even more stressful by Beetle's sale to Irish rider Joseph Murphy going through. He passed the vet very well, good news for my finances, but I felt so guilty for selling him after seven years. I’ve been pretty upset at times, although I know Joseph is a good, quiet rider who will treat him very well. Beetle left Avington today, I can't quite believe it.

Vittoria has sent some fantastic photos to put in her blog this week. She is currently in quarantine with Rock Model in Aachen, Germany in preparation for their imminent trip to the Olympics in Hong Kong and can't get to a computer to write her blog. She sent them by text so that you could all see her new team kit and 'Bug' in his stable. Have a look (and a giggle!) at the pics below!

Been in Aachen since the 16th in quarantine, feel like a trapped cage bird. I hate being so restricted with only one flat grass field to exercise in other than the sand schools swarming with dressage horses being grilled for hours! Not even allowed to make Bug a little paddock! Very hard to do final touches on the great fitness work required for the HK climate. Been trotting round the field for one and a half hours and galloping on a twisty stretch of cross-country with 25 other horses all together on two set days!

Great to catch up with all my friends and much gossip on the Italian squad although the team selection politics can be a little perturbing... The weather was soaking wet, freezing cold and stormy until Mel arrived today, it has been truly awful!

A leg streth for both Bug & Vittoria Bug enjoys a little bit of the green stuff!
